Ghost Hunting VacationsSearch for Ghosts with Your Favorite Celebrities of the Paranormal
Paranormal retreats are a unique type of vacation, offering everything from hands-on ghost hunting investigations to the chance to mingle with paranormal celebrities.
There's nothing quite like checking into a haunted penitentiary for the weekend to wander the dark hallways in the dead of night with other paranormal enthusiasts. Attendees of Darkness Radio's paranormal events know the experience very well. Radio hosts Dave Schrader and Tim Dennis offer year-round paranormal vacations to places like Waverly Hills Sanitorium, Eastern State Penitentiary, the Queen Mary and the Stanley Hotel. What's a Paranormal Retreat?Depending on which group you go with and where you go, paranormal retreats can last anywhere from two to four days. First and formeost, attendees receive hands-on experience when it comes to paranormal investigating. Second, paranormal retreats usually include cast members from various paranormal reality shows and/or other celebrities from the field. According to Schrader, one should expect "Education, entertainment and fun. A chance to hear from the top speakers in the paranormal field. Chances to interact in social environments and actual investigative situations with a wide variety of paranormal investigative techniques". Most importantly, don't expect to get much sleep - you'll be up most of the night walking around in the dark. Paranormal Retreats Can Get Pretty ScaryWhat's the number one reason people attend paranormal retreats? These not-so-typical vacations can get pretty scary. Schrader points out that his events, now in their second year, are so successful because they are fun, educational and offer a lot of "bang for the buck". However, attendees of these events sign up because they want to acquire evidence of paranormal activity and they very often do; why not get this evidence in some of the most haunted locations around? According to Schrader, attendees have captured "everything from one on one contact with spirits to some of the most astounding EVP and video evidence". Paranormal retreats are not for the faint of heart. There's always the chance that something scary might happen and therefore, many paranormal retreats don't allow children to attend. It's best to research a location before you sign up. Eastern State Penitentiary, for instance, isn't the safest place to be walking around in the dark. Make sure you're prepared physically and mentally for that type of place. 2008 Halloween Paranormal RetreatsGhosts get the most attention during the Halloween season. It should come as no surprise that there are plenty of paranormal vacations for the super paranormal enthusiast to enjoy this Halloween. Here are two big ones:
