In recent years, angels have become more popular. We have pictures depicting them in our homes; we read stories about supernatural interventions which we attribute to them; we have angel figurines displayed in our homes. The concept of angels is not new. They are part of the Christian religion, after all. So why the surge in interest?
My thoughts on the matter are that we as humans have a need to believe that there is much more to life than just the physical plane we inhabit. We are comforted by the idea that we have an entity looking out for us, albeit a mostly unseen one. (Some of the stories about encounters with angels tell of people actually seeing their protector, wings and all, though.)
This week's article will examine a tale from the First World War in which an army of angels apparently came to the aid of outnumbered British troops.
