Local residents are now wondering if this is the same animal that been the subject of many stories in the Turner, Maine, area for almost 50 years. It has been blamed for the deaths of both a Doberman and a Rottweiler in recent years.
Weighing between 40 and 50 lbs., the creature was a charcoal grey colour. It had a bushy tail, short ears, a "short snout", and fangs which curled over its lips. A witness noted the animal had a very foul odour.
While both animal control officers and wildlife officials have refused to examine the remains, author and cryptozoologist Loren Coleman (who has examined photos of the carcass), has stated that the animal reminds him of another creature shot in Maine that DNA analysis determined to be a wolf-dog hybrid.
