Spiritualists are also a good source. They, too, are not about the money, but can give a definition if it is spirit or some physical causes. Nothing is accepted as spirit, until all material conditions have been satisfied.

Latley I think that I have been going crazy. I have a wonderful 3 year old daughter that absolutley refuses to leave my side at any given point in time. This has just recently started after she told me that she rolled over one night in bed and saw a light with a tail and it was talking to her. Now I am a believer in the spiritual world. I have seen and been apart of things that totally blew my mind. As a parent I am here to protect my children, and I feel like I am failing. A couple of months ago she was talking about her "friend" Lisa. From what she says "Lisa" came into the house when she left the door open one night. I NEVER leave the doors open let alone unlocked. I was curious so I started asking about "Lisa" She explained to me that she was her friend. That she slept in her room with her and sometimes was very mean, and called her names. One morning she told me that "Lisa" was being mean to her and when she turned around she was a monster and bit my daughter in the arm. Helpless as I felt, I started to freak out about the whole thing. Everyone else thinks that I am crazy, they say that she has a vivid imagination, but I believer her, and every word that comes outta her mouth about this. I started to ask her about this light that she sees. She said that it sounds like a man, and then it started to growl at her and she got scared. I don't want my child to be scared of spirits, but if there are some that are out to hurt her for some reason I want it to stop and don't know how to stop it. Everyone thinks that it's childs play, but I don't. I need help, I need to know what to do, how to console, and most of all get to the bottom of it. Wether it is a spirit or a wild imagination. ANY advice would help as I am at my wits end trying to understand. Thank you in Advance, Kelly

Check people out online by name, address and organization association... See what they are posting where and if it makes sense.

Ask for detailed descriptions of what they actually do to help you deal with the ghost and how their methods work and how long they have been working in rescue work. If they can't explain the job with reasonable documentation as to where you can find examples other cases where the methods have been tried with success it is likely that they are BS or have no real experience in the area of working with Ghosts.

Most Spiritualists are used to the church setting but have little to no real experience in true rescue work when it comes right down to it. Those that have the real experience usually have worked for law enforcement and other such agencies and should be able to provide these organizations as key references. Who ever you decide to hire, get references from past clients.

There are good and bad practitioners be they Paranormal Investigators or Spiritualists. As with any professional designation these people should be able to hand you several references as to people who have found their methods useful and recorded/documented results... If they cannot or will not then steer clear! The ones who cannot back up what they promise with concrete examples where real results are noted are likely a waste of your time, effort and money. The internet is full of them using every kind of title and gimmick imaginable... If it doesn't seem right it usually isn't!

And those without references are quick to connect to a comment out of context to your particular situation and/or need for help.

Check everyone's references...that is a good start. In the meantime, help is needed here....not criticism of where it stems from. Accept only what works for you.

Cat posted a wonderful prayer for the young on another thread...one she used when she was small. Perhaps she would share it again?

While 3 is a little young to try to explain a lot...you might suggest to her that there are good people and bad people (for a start) and that she can tell Lisa and her friends to go away any time she wants. Put her in charge at her own age level.

You could put a white light protection around her at all times. Start each morning with one and end each day with one. Any time in between when the child is quiet would be another good time.

I have the references for what I do J but then I did not quasi rescue advise that is questionable now did I? Do you have reverences for what you do? From people YOU have read for or more importantly rescue work experience that is even remotely current? Are they available on your site? Do you offer them to seekers when they call?
When is the last time some of the so called informed people on these boards actually did rescue work? I mean actually went to where the haunting was and actually were any use to people dealing with serious spirit hauntings or disturbances?
When I did do ghost tracking I learned very quickly that you can't mess around with this stuff and need to work with experienced people. I found out that I was not prepared for this work and that the churches are not equipped or truly experienced enough to handle these kind of issues either. Most of the churches would rather avoid it than be of real use to seekers anyway so where is the seeker in need to go?
For example I had a woman from an area north of me call me looking for help with spirit disturbances in her home. I did what I could to help and I gave her the local Spiritualist Church information and yep in classic fashion NOBODY bothered to call this lady back! Nasty but typical and yet this is where you want people to go for resources???

You are not crazy. Children can be intuitive and sensitive from a very young age...

You can tell your daughter that her angels will not let anyone hurt her and all she needs to do is ask them for help. Simple prayers or playing a game where you surround her with white light before bed or when she is starting to get upset may also help her to find her own ways to calm.

My mother put music on and left a light on in the room and told me that nothing could harm me in the light. All that was needed was a small night light. And the music helped me sleep. When I got older I could see the spirits but was not afraid of them because by then I knew that they were not there to hurt me because I knew how to protect myself with white light.

I hope these ideas help.

I know you are worried about your daughter, Kelly. In addition to the suggestions posted here and in the interest of ruling out other possibilities first, I would suggest that you take your daughter to a doctor for a complete physical. Be sure to let the doctor know what is going on at home so he or she has the full story and you can get the best possible advice.

Totally agree! Funny I assumed that taking the child to a doctor for a check-up had already been suggested and so did not think I needed to post about taking the child to be examined. That said check out all possible physical problems first then see if it is something paranormal or spirit related! Geez I just assumed that was a given but it is SO important to look at the practical possibilities first and then the supernatural.

Kelly:

When you talk to your doctor be sure to tell them all the details. Start tracking all the episodes and see when they happen and what is going on at the same time.

You may want to keep a journal of each event in detail. Also track if your daughter is eating and drinking and eliminating normally. Is she sick or healthy when these episodes happen? For example does she have these experiences more often when she is not feeling well? What other symptoms are happening at the same time? Does your daughter express complaints of headaches or other pain before, during or after an episode?

Likely the more info you can give your doctor the better and let them run every test on her they can to rule out any possible physiological problem.
And in the meantime you can use the prayers and other ideas to help her calm at night before bed while you work to find out what is going on.

This is a good opportunity for the 3 year old and the mom to learn to trust the insticts. The child is afraid...trust this and dismiss what is fearful.

If the spirit is a guide they will come with love and light. They will find another way to come that does not bring fears. If they are not of the light, they will be dismissed.

There is the good, the bad, the ugly in spirit contact as well. Accepting that which of spirit without some discrimination, leads to a lifetime of trusting the wrong influences. Many are living their lives in that realm.

Trusting the instincts will build as the child grows and knows that the mom is in tune with them and their instincts.

It is all fine and well to say they should or could do this or that... Now the question is how are they to manage to use this good opportunity to learn to trust their instincts? Let's talk practical tools....

I am curious as to what you can come up with and what it is based on? Anyone else have any useful ideas?
