I wonder why there are five votes from people who've seen ghosts but nobody has shared a story yet!I saw a woman in a Victorian dress who disappeared in front of my eyes. I was young, but I know that I saw what I saw. She walked up to the doorway of our kitchen as if she was entering the room. My brain told me it was my mother (because that would be the only woman in the house) so I looked at her to ask why she was dressed like that. Before I could, she dissolved in front of my eyes. I was looking right at her.
I lived in a very old farmhouse in Ohio. I had a few sisters who also saw the woman at some point, as well as a few men.

In response to I'll go first posted by violet0:Thank you, violet0, for sharing your experience. Did you ever find any more about who the woman was in life?
I have a couple of stories to share, too: Friends of my parents lost their son in his mid-twenties. One day, his mother saw him come down the stairs into the kitchen of the family home. He said "Hi Mom" and then disappeared.
My great-uncle had what he thought was a dream one night that his long-dead father had come to visit him. His father was sitting on the edge of the bed and apparently, they had a great chat. (He never did tell us that they had discussed.) After his father disappeared, my great-uncle was very surprised to find that there was an indentation in the covers on the bed, like someone had actually been sitting there.

- I'll go first
I've had a few experiences with “ghosts”. As a child I saw someone I thought was my father, who is still alive, carrying groceries down the hallway of our home. He made several trips but I only saw him walk in one direction. My father wasn't home at the time, but he was at the grocery store. I told my mom but she said it was my imagination but my sister saw the same thing. Another time I was asleep next to my sister, we had our heads under some shelves that were full of very heavy text books. I remember the sound of the shelves breaking but more then that I remember feeling hands on my back pushing me into a sitting position. My sister felt hands move her arms so that they covered her face and then a book was placed on top of them. My parents came rushing in our room when they heard the shelves break. I was asleep in a sitting position, my pillow covered with books and some broken glass from collectibles that were on the shelves, we had to dig to find my sister but she was unharmed.
In the same house I saw what I always describe as an angel floating down the hall. We were home alone at the time. When I saw the figure I must of looked frightened because my sister saw my face and screamed “GET OUT OF THE HOUSE”, we ran like crazy to the neighbors and stayed there until my folks came home.

I can still feel the hands on my back pushing me up. It's weird but cool, I believe that someone or something saved my life that night. I wish I had a better explanation of how. My mom used to say that it was Grandpa looking out for us.

» spiritalk - Has anyone heard of Spirit?
As a spiritualist medium I am in touch with 'other' realms on a regular basis to demonstrate life after death and the aid and comfort we get from loved ones, angels and our loved ones.Calling them ghosts (IME) is a bit disrespectful of who and what they are. As mediums we teach others to reach their own guidance and loved ones.

In response to Has anyone heard of Spirit? posted by jcredmond:Yes, to some extent I prefer the term spirit. We all pass to spirit and will be in that form at some point in our existence.
Ghosts is the term used by those most closely attached to the earth plane and cause some poltergeist activities.
