Do you have to hold it? Wouldn't any body movement (like breathing), no matter how slight, affect the motion of the pendulum?

In response to As a divination tool posted by hawknut:You have to hold the string/chain part of the pendulum. Breathing shouldn't effect the motion; if it is moving for you, you will see a definite movement.

In response to As a divination tool posted by hawknut:It does take a bit of practice to steady your hand. Too much caffeine is probably a no-no, too. You really do need to be as calm and relaxed as possible to get this to work.

I appreciate that it is easy to project your own wants onto this method. Certainly, it is not 100% reliable, just like other methods are not 100% reliable. It's a tool to get information and I think it has value as long as you don't rely on it too much.

In response to As a divination tool posted by jcredmond:Mediumship is an attunement process with the mind. Tools can be interesting (psychometry - holding of an article, Tarot - cards, crystal balls - focus of mind, etc)
