A few years ago, I actually saw a Web site from a company (I think it was based in the UK) that would supply a ghost to old buidings/inns/tourist destinations for a fee. And they guaranteed results!

Well I have to say as a Spiritualist Medium that people feel like my house is full. I don't know if they mean it is haunted or not but to me it is not haunted in the traditional Hollywood movie sense. I remind them that they bring their people with them and their people talk to my people and that is how I know what to say to the sitter during a psychic reading.

The point is that none of the spirits in my home are there to harm and they are not house pets either. They come to do a job and go and do what they need to do in spirit. A haunting is connected to a stuck spirit is one that cannot let go of their physical existence and are trying to continue living it after death. Usually there is unfinished business on the part of that stuck spirit.

Spirit Guides come to work with Mediums but they are not caught up in the trappings of the physical plane. Teachers are special Guides that come in for very specific lessons and Guardians remain with each of us for our entire life time as protectors.

That spirits are around is not the issue but rather what are they doing while they are here and how is it affecting the occupants in the home? If the spirit is peaceful and healing that is fine but if it is causing problems then it needs to be dealt with so that the folks living in the house are the ones in control of what happens in their home. This is where a sage and sweet grass ritual can help cleanse the home. The ritual is about the home owner claiming the space for themselves and elevating the spiritual vibration so that any stuck spirits are able to move on into the spirit world as they should.

So when I move into a new home be it house or apartment I do the cleansing ritual and acclimatize the house to my energy vibration. If there is anyone still hanging about I usually know who they are and help them to move forward. In doing that it seems it helps their progression and I feel more peaceful. If they are friendly spirits they sometimes come back and say hello and thanks for the help each year around the time of the cleansing ritual. If they are less than desirable then my Guardians make sure there are no further problems as they help move the unwanted guests on to where they should go.

It sounds like a really good idea to start fresh in a new home.

Have you ever come across an entity that refuses to leave, even when the homeowner performs the ritual?

No I cannot say that I have ever had that problem myself when I do the ritual. And I don't know anyone else who felt that the spirits would not leave. I have had the situation where I got used to some of them letting me know they were there and when they did go I felt kinda funny. I had gotten used to them being around I guess, but I realized that they had places to go and things to do.

Still hear from those ones once in a blue moon...

You would have to think about the who and why of the spirit that is there and what are their reasons for staying. 'Stuck' spirit needs the energy of the earth to remain. If someone has an interest (i.e. metaphysical, paranormal, etc.) that can give energy to the spirit...even unwittingly.

Entities have their own reasons for being...just as we do. So there are a variety of things to consider. One size does not fit all.

Correct one size does not fit all but a practical example tends to be helpful to the reader don't you think? In discussions there are a lot of ideas thrown about with little explanation that leave the reader confused. Too bad really when one or two practical methods based on real experience and personal practice should be supplied for the reader to think about. Not all methods work for all people but at least it gives them a place to start. It is in the trying of the ideas where things are learned not all is learned vicariously from books or others around us IMO.

And so what exactly is the variety of things you think should be considered?

From my personal experience, it is well to identify and connect to the 'stuck' spirit so that you KNOW what is right for the situation.
