In response to Why the dimes??? posted by liddellcheshire:

I too have been finding dimes, and after what happened this morning, I searched the web on the phenomenon and found this site. For me, the dimes started showing up a year ago. On occasion I would find five to ten of them around the house, and now I often find one on the sidewalk or in a parking lot, usually when I am feeling depressed. They are always shiny and heads-up, and for some reason I had attributed them to my grandmother who passed away five years ago. I never imagined that others were experiencing the same thing.

This morning I woke up early and went downstairs to get the laundry out of the dryer, then returned upstairs to take a shower. Everyone else was still asleep and I was feeling somewhat lonely. Wearing only the boxers I had slept in last night, I was preparing to take them off when I felt something folded up in the fabric - it was a dime! I'm a natural skeptic, and I thought this coin had to be coincidental. But as I removed my boxers, I found a second dime inside! There is no natural way two dimes could have fallen into my underwear, nor any natural way the dimes would have remained there after walking up and down a flight of stairs.

Why dimes? I continue to find a penny now and then in random places, but the dimes show up too frequently and in too strange of places. I don't believe they are warnings or serve as protection from misfortune. For me, finding these dimes mean that someone above cares for me and doesn't want me to despair during this particularly difficult time in my life.
